What is Naturopathic Care?

Naturopathic Care is an effective method for elevating your level of health and happiness by treating your body, mind and spirit. Quite simply, naturopathic care concentrates on the whole person, rather than focusing only on symptomatic treatment. You cannot isolate one aspect of a person to heal. Due to that, it is important at times to look at the emotional, mental and spiritual aspect of the physical issue and how it relates to the symptoms.

On a personal level, I provide ongoing education on nutrition and detoxification and teach you how to empower yourselves and take ownership for your own health.

ND’s treat many conditions and can provide both individual and family health care. As an ND I perform wellness check-ups, school and sport physicals. I will also read and discuss lab/diagnostic tests.

Among the most common ailments I treat are colds, allergies, bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory conditions, chronic pain, rashes, digestive issues, ADD, nutritional deficiencies, cholesterol, hormonal imbalances, heart disease, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome to name just a few.

I will suggest dietary changes as well as supplements and herbs to assist in your wellness. Some of the modalities I use to assess and treat are iridology, reflexology, lymph drainage, homeopathy, herbology, nutrition, detoxification, cupping, electric stim, rife therapy, foot detox, sauna detoxification and ultrasound as well as other services.

Many people think of the naturopath as the “country doctor” as we look to the cause of the issue and do not treat just the symptom. We treat naturally without drugs. Once in a state of wellness, people find that they are able to sustain a new level of health with occasional cleansing programs and healing foods.

The next time you don’t feel well…think more in the natural way of healing. If you are choosing to get on track with your health, let me know. Remember ….all aspects need to work in a symbiotic relationship. Health is mind, body and spirit.

Iridology

Proclaimed throughout the ages as "windows of the soul", the eyes are now acknowledged as mirrors of the body and likened to miniature television screens recording the condition of the various organs and tissues throughout the body. Iridology has been practiced since history has been recorded.

Iridology is a safe, non-invasive technique that provides a valuable guide to health. The irid reveals body constitution, inherent weaknesses, level of health and transitions that take place in the body according to the way one lives.

The greatest feature and main advantage of Iridology over other forms of health screening is that changes appear in the irid before the physical symptom develops, and therefore preventive action may be taken to improve health and avoid those diseases which might otherwise follow.

Iridology does not reveal specific diseases because many diseases create similar changes in body tissues. The irid reflects the condition of the tissues (e.g. inflammation, acidity, toxicity, congested lymph, hardened arteries, etc.)  Iridology is therefore not concerned with named diseases but with restoration and maintenance of health through building up the patient's immunity and life force.

Manual Lymph Drainage

Dr Voter developed manual Lymph Drainage in Europe in the 1930s. At that time, lymph nodes were frequently removed because they were considered to be malfunctioning when swollen. Removal further compromises the body's ability to fend off infections. Today we acknowledge the importance of the lymph system - to remove, clean and store waste products and toxins in the body. MLD is applied with a very light skin technique and is not considered massage therapy.

Manual lymph drainage is effective through the pumping and stretching effect on the lymph vessels. It stimulates contractions of the lymph vessels, which in turn assist the movement of the lymph forward. This action drains connective tissues. Overall, manual lymph drainage can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Burns
  • Circulatory Problems
  • Pre and Post Plastic Surgery
  • Primary and Secondary Lymphedema
  • RSD
  • Sprains and Strains
  • Sports Injuries
  • Ulceration
  • Venous Insufficiency
  • Allergies
  • Skin Problems (Acne, Scar Tissue)
  • Fibromayalgia
  • Stress-Related Disorders
  • Autoimmune Reactions
